THE Game Changer

I am convinced. This is truth. Reading your bible is the game changing factor in your Christian walk and life. The difference between a born-again believer who is, and one who is not, in the Word of God is considerable and evident. Sin, compromise, confusion and all-around spiritual weakness persists in the life of the believer who does not have a consistent diet of God’s Word.

This is serious. If you have trusted Christ for your salvation and you are neglecting the Word of God, you are weak getting weaker. You are adrift, and you probably don’t even know it. There is absolutely no standing still in the Christian life. You are either pressing forward or you are sliding backward. There is no in-between.

I grew up at the beach. I have spent countless hours of my life playing in the ocean. I can remember on many occasions my brother and I getting into the water right in front of my parents, and just having a great time. But, as we played we would slowly drift up the coast away from them. In no time at all and without our noticing we would find ourselves half a mile down the beach. It was slow, but steady and without the feeling of alarm we drifted away.

Christian, if you are not in His Word, you are drifting. You may not realize it. It may not be obvious yet, but you are drifting. Just like I did as a kid on those summer days you are drifting away. I hope you will take this warning seriously. You are either growing stronger - anchored in His word, or you are growing weaker and drifting away.

Today. Right now. Make a change. Repent and make a commitment to read your Bible. Every day. If it’s been a while, or maybe you’ve never really done it, start with the Gospel of John. Great place to get to know Jesus better since it says in John 20:31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. When you’re finished with John go on into Acts and then Romans and all the way through the New Testament.

Stop drifting and start reading. Do it today.
