Getting Back to Our Roots

Getting Back to Our Roots

170 years and counting

First Baptist Church of Flushing has been serving the Flushing community for over 170 years! That is a long time in anyone's book! For the larger portion of this time we have been an Unaffiliated Baptist Church. Around 9 years ago the leadership of FBC made the decision to seek and establish an affiliation with the Southern Baptist Convention. This was a good arrangement for the pastors at that time and has served the church well in various ways over the past 9 years.

Recently the leadership of FBC, in obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit, is returning to our roots. As of Sunday, Dec 3, 2017, FBC is once again an Unaffiliated Baptist Church. This decision was made for multiple reasons, however the one main thing we want to celebrate is the bright future we have in Flushing as we follow Jesus and seek to make Him known.

We desire to be Authentic in all that we do. We want to stand on the Word of God and proclaim the love of Jesus to the community we love and serve. We want to see men and women rise up and make a stand for Jesus. We want to live uncompromising lives full of faith for what God has in store. We want to live everyday for Jesus. We believe that seeking the heart of Jesus in everything we do will continue to lead us into the harvest God has prepared for us.

Thankful for the things God has done over the past 170 years, we look forward to all He has for us until His return, and with that we say; Come Lord Jesus Come! Amen!
